The opening weeks of the 2026/2027 season have been packed for Nottinghamshire PFC, with the squad stepping straight into both national and regional fixtures. These early matches have already shown the team’s determination, competitive spirit, and steady improvement. They also marked the debut of our new season banners, proudly celebrating our partnership with the Nottingham Forest Foundation.
The team began their national campaign with three demanding fixtures against Villa Rockets PFC, Middlesbrough PFC and WBA Throstles.
The opening match proved difficult, with Villa Rockets applying early pressure and forcing Nottinghamshire into several defensive scrambles. Two moments of hesitation on the line allowed Villa to convert their chances. Despite the result, the team settled well in the second half, showing improved organisation and a willingness to push forward.
The second game was a clear step up. Nottinghamshire tightened their defensive structure, communicated effectively, and controlled large spells of the match. Middlesbrough threatened late on, but the team held firm to secure their first national point of the season.
The final match of the day was competitive, with Nottinghamshire creating several promising attacking opportunities. Two well‑worked moves forced Throstles into quick defensive reactions, and the team showed confidence in transition. However, WBA were more clinical in front of goal, converting their chances and taking the win. Despite the scoreline, Nottinghamshire’s attacking intent was a clear positive.
The second day of nationals brought two tightly contested fixtures against Manchester United PFC and Sevenoaks PFC.
This match showcased one of Nottinghamshire’s strongest defensive displays of the weekend. The team stayed compact, disciplined, and patient, absorbing pressure from a well‑organised United side. Clearances were confident, transitions were sharper, and the team earned another valuable point.
The final national fixture was a tight, tactical battle. Sevenoaks threatened with several quick breaks, but Nottinghamshire matched their intensity and held their shape throughout. The team continued to show improvement in communication and positioning, securing their fourth draw of the weekend.
Across the national fixtures, Nottinghamshire collected 3 points from a possible 15, demonstrating resilience and steady growth against strong opposition.
One week later, the team returned to action for their next set of regional fixtures, once again facing familiar opponents.
Nottinghamshire delivered another disciplined performance, earning yet another clean sheet. The team’s defensive organisation continues to strengthen, with improved spacing, quicker reactions, and better control of the midfield.
A narrow defeat, but a much more competitive showing than the earlier national fixture. Nottinghamshire pressed higher, created several attacking opportunities, and forced Villa into mistakes. The single goal came from a fast counter‑attack, but the team responded well and pushed for an equaliser until the final whistle.
These regional results highlight the squad’s growing consistency and confidence, particularly in defence.
Both weekends also marked the debut of our new club banners, proudly showcasing our identity and our partnership with the Nottingham Forest Foundation. The banners added a professional presence to the court and reflected the pride we take in representing Nottinghamshire.
